During his high school years at St. Francis Prep, Ted "played" basketball, where he spent more time on the bench than on the court. Embracing humor as a coping mechanism, he dubbed himself and his fellow benchwarmers "The Minute Men." This pivot from sports led him to explore his talents in theater, setting in motion his eventual career in comedy. Ted attended the City College of New York to study jazz piano, despite having no prior experience in jazz.
