Ted Alexandro is one of the distinguished comedians in the country, celebrated for his sharp observations and laid-back humor. A native of New York, Ted is a staple of the NY comedy scene and a headliner at clubs across the nation. His comedic prowess has earned him accolades, with Time Out NY naming him one of the top comedians in the circuit, and Uproar magazine lauding him for his appeal, akin to comedy legends Ray Romano and Jerry Seinfeld. Ted has graced the stages of numerous high-profile shows, appearing on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "The View," and featuring in two half-hour specials on Comedy Central. His style, a blend of witty observations and physical comedy, resonates with a wide audience, offering something relatable for everyone. Ted's journey in comedy has roots tracing back to his school days. In the fourth grade, he developed a lasting crush on his classmate, Daisey Ramirez (not her real name), an unrequited affection that humorously lingers in his life. Despite the lack of reciprocation, Ted humorously attributes his single status and career in comedy to these early experiences. During his high school years at St. Francis Prep, Ted "played" basketball, where he spent more time on the bench than on the court. Embracing humor as a coping mechanism, he dubbed himself and his fellow benchwarmers "The Minute Men." This pivot from sports led him to explore his talents in theater, setting in motion his eventual career in comedy. Ted attended the City College of New York to study jazz piano, despite having no prior experience in jazz. Intimidated by his peers' skills, he transferred to Queens College, earning a master's degree in elementary education and indulging his passion for theater. Post-graduation, Ted embarked on a five-year teaching stint within NYC's public schools, nurturing young minds by day and honing his stand-up craft by night. Initially part of the comedic duo "James and Ted," Ted eventually carved out a successful solo career in comedy. In 1997, he left teaching to fully embrace stand-up comedy. Despite nearly two decades passing without contact, the memory of Daisey lingers as he continues to refine his basketball skills, take piano lessons, and captivate audiences with his humor. Today, Ted Alexandro remains a beloved comic, living in his hometown and dedicated to the art of making others laugh.
