Stephen Lynch, a self-proclaimed "musician trapped in the body of a comedian," has crafted a unique niche in the world of comedy with his musical-based humor. Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, Stephen is the son of a former nun and priest, which perhaps influenced his flair for entertaining stories and performances. From a young age, he was known for actively entertaining friends and family, hinting at his future career path. Stephen pursued his passion for performance by studying Drama at Western Michigan University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. After honing his skills as a comedic songwriter, he moved to New York City in 1996 with aspirations of becoming a performer. By day, he worked temp jobs, while nights were spent writing songs and performing at clubs and underground music venues in Manhattan. Through this hustle, he cultivated a devoted fan base and became a regular on the popular "Opie & Anthony" radio show. This exposure, coupled with his dynamic live performances, caught the attention of Comedy Central. In 2000, he recorded his first Comedy Central special, which became one of their highest-rated performances for an unknown artist at the time. Stephen’s second special debuted in 2008 and received similarly high ratings, cementing his reputation in the comedy circuit. In 2006, Stephen took a significant leap onto the Broadway stage, starring in the title role of "The Wedding Singer." His performance was met with critical acclaim, earning him nominations for prestigious awards, including the Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, and a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. Stephen Lynch has also released several successful albums, including "A Little Bit Special," "Superhero," and "The Craig Machine," garnering a global fanbase. His first DVD, "Live at the El Rey," was certified Gold by the RIAA. Over the years, he has toured with prominent comedians such as Lewis Black and the late Mitch Hedberg, achieving headline status with sold-out shows across the United States and Europe, where he is humorously dubbed "the Beyonce of Scandinavia." In March 2009, Stephen continued his musical comedy journey with the release of his CD "3 Balloons," followed by a nationwide U.S. tour that spanned 25 cities. This tour marked the launch of Comedy Central's new live entertainment division. He planned to record a live, one-hour special for Comedy Central, further solidifying his footprint in the industry. When he is not performing to his fervent fans around the globe, Stephen resides in New York with his wife, enjoying the quieter side of life while continuing to entertain audiences with his inimitable blend of music and comedy.
