Jason and Randy Sklar are identical twins, born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, whose comedic journey began in their childhood, fueled by an admiration for comics like Jerry Seinfeld and Sam Kinison. The twins frequently watched and memorized comedy specials, forming the foundation of their comedic aspirations. Their formal comedy career began at the University of Michigan, where they started performing together. Initially considering a future in law, their path took a decisive turn after opening a show for visiting comic Andy Kindler. Inspired by Kindler, they decided to pursue a career in comedy full-time. In 1994, the Sklar Brothers relocated to New York City, immersing themselves in the vibrant alternative comedy scene. They performed at popular venues like "Eating It," "Surf Reality," and "Collective Unconscious," finding the environment more dynamic than the typical stand-up comedy clubs of the time. In 1997, they created and starred in the MTV sitcom "Apartment 2F," which showcased their unique brand of humor that blended sketch and stand-up elements. This platform allowed them to feature many of their friends from the underground comedy scene, further anchoring their presence in the industry. The Sklar Brothers are perhaps best known for their ESPN show "Cheap Seats," which aired from 2004 to 2006. The series was a humorous exploration of ESPN's extensive tape library, where they offered comedic commentary on unusual sports events. The show became a fan favorite, lasting four seasons. Though their comedy isn't primarily focused on the fact that they are twins, they effectively utilize their dynamic duo to deliver jokes with a seamless back-and-forth rhythm. To many, they give the impression of "one head" telling stories. Of the two, Randy sees himself as the more emotional, while Jason remains calm amid their career's fluctuations. While their act is predominantly a collaborative effort, in recent years, they've occasionally performed separately, particularly in Los Angeles shows emphasizing written material. Yet, they continue to have a shared vision and believe there is much more to achieve as a comedy team. In 2007, they released their second CD, "Sklar Maps," under the AST comedy label, further solidifying their career. Known for punctuating jokes with the word "Folks," the Sklar Brothers remain a distinctive and enduring presence in the world of comedy.
