Ron "Tater Salad" White, a beloved figure in the comedy world, is widely recognized for his distinctive style as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking comedian who emerged from the "Blue Collar Comedy" phenomenon. White's career reached new heights in 2006, highlighted by two Grammy nominations, a New York Times Best Selling book, and the release of a new CD and DVD, as well as his second one-hour special on Comedy Central. His ability to captivate audiences with his storytelling established him as a star in his own right. From January 2000 through March 2003, White shared the stage with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy during the highly successful "Blue Collar Comedy Tour." This tour enthralled sold-out audiences in over 90 cities, grossing more than $15 million. Warner Bros captured the magic on film with "Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie," which debuted in theaters in March 2003 and later premiered on Comedy Central as the highest-rated movie in the channel's history. Ron White's comedic roots trace back to his childhood in a small Texas town nestled within oil country. Before rising to fame, he led the life of a struggling comedian, working odd jobs like selling windows in Arlington and enduring countless road trips in his well-worn Nissan pickup to perform at comedy clubs nationwide. These years of perseverance gradually paid off as he gained recognition and respect in the comedy circuit. In November 2003, White released his first solo comedy CD, "Drunk In Public." The album showcased his insightful and sharply humorous perspective, quickly ascending the Billboard Comedy Charts, and selling over 450,000 copies. His "Drunk In Public" tour achieved significant success, earning a spot in Pollstar Magazine's top tours for 2004 and 2005. Notably, his first Comedy Central special, “They Call Me Tater Salad,” set viewing records for the network and sold over 1.3 million copies, achieving multi-platinum status. In April 2005, "The Ron White Show," a comedy special filmed in Las Vegas for the WB network, drew 4 million viewers and delivered one of the network's best Thursday ratings of the season. White's second one-hour special, "You Can't Fix Stupid," was filmed in January 2006 at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, Texas. The special continued his streak of success, attracting 4.5 million viewers, the third largest audience in Comedy Central's history. The accompanying comedy CD topped the Billboard Comedy Charts for nine consecutive weeks and earned a 2007 Grammy nomination. "Blue Collar Comedy Tour - One For The Road" also earned him a second Grammy nomination while reuniting him with his Blue Collar Comedy cohorts for a special filmed at Washington DC's Warner Theater, which premiered on Comedy Central. In June 2006, Penguin Books published White’s memoir, "I Had The Right To Remain Silent...But I Didn't Have the Ability," debuting at #15 on the New York Times Best Seller List. The book, which perfectly encapsulates White's life and comedic style, features over 80 illustrations by artist Matthew Shultz. Throughout his career, Ron White has made memorable appearances on late-night talk shows, such as "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Today, he continues to live in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, delighting audiences with his sharp wit and relatable storytelling.
