Ms. Pat, a comedian with a life story that defies the norm, was born in the challenging West End neighborhood of Atlanta. Raised by a single mother of five, she quickly learned the importance of self-reliance in an environment marked by poverty and struggle. Her grandfather ran a bootleg house, and from a young age, Ms. Pat was exposed to life's harsher realities, often hustling for food money by learning the ways of the streets.
By the age of 14, Ms. Pat had her first child, followed by a second at 15. Realizing she was unlikely to attend college, she embraced motherhood early. During her teenage years, she became known as "Rabbit," a street-savvy drug dealer in a community where options were limited. "I figured there were two things I could do in my neighborhood to earn money, either sell drugs or sell p*@#%y," she has candidly shared. At just 16, she purchased her first Cadillac. Her turbulent youth was marked by violence and frequent run-ins with the law, including being shot twice.
At 19, a pivotal moment occurred when she met a 21-year-old military veteran. Inspired by his support and encouragement, she decided to leave the dangerous lifestyle behind. "I was so tired, I thought for sure I was going to end up dead," she recalls. With determination, she embarked on a new chapter, marrying and starting life anew with her two young children. Her resolve was further tested when her sister, battling drug addiction, entrusted her with the care of four more children. Over the next decade, Ms. Pat raised these six children, relying on welfare offices for food stamps and housing assistance.
It was during these welfare visits that Ms. Pat's knack for storytelling was noticed. In 2003, encouraged by a caseworker, she bravely took the stage at an open-mic night at “The Pub” in Atlanta. The experience was transformative. She discovered a natural talent for comedy, engaging audiences with her raw, authentic, and often hilarious perspectives drawn from her life's journey.
Ms. Pat’s comedy career flourished over the ensuing years. She captivated audiences on TV Guide Network's “Standup in Stilettos” and Nickelodeon's “Mom’s Night Out.” Her comedic prowess earned her an upcoming appearance on BET’s “Comicview.” A regular voice on radio, she frequently guests on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show and has been featured in Katt Williams’ DVD “Kattpacalypse.”
In the podcasting world, Ms. Pat has gained celebrity status, appearing on major shows like "WTF with Marc Maron," "The Joe Rogan Experience," "Ari Shafir’s Skeptic Tank," "The CrabFeast," "Your Mom’s House," and "The Bertcast." In January 2015, she appeared on Comedy Central's “This is Not Happening” and participated in NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
Today, Ms. Pat resides in Indianapolis with her husband and three children. Her journey from the West End streets of Atlanta to the comedy stage is a testament to her resilience, humor, and unyielding spirit.
