John Paul Morgan, born on February 19, 1964, was raised in the vibrant and diverse cultural landscape of New Orleans, Louisiana. Being one of nine children, John grew up in an environment rich with cultural, political, and economic variety, elements that would later shape his unique comedic style. After completing high school, he attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now known as the University of Louisiana Lafayette, where he earned degrees in English, Political Science, and Interpersonal Communications.
It was during his college years that John discovered his innate gift for comedy. He initially applied his communication skills to a career as the Director of Marketing for a group of psychiatric hospitals in Louisiana. However, driven by a passion for performance and a desire to connect with audiences on a larger scale, John eventually decided to pursue a career in comedy full-time.
John Morgan has since established himself as a regular performer at comedy clubs, corporate events, and musical arenas across the country. His comedy has been featured on national television, including appearances on MTV, Showtime, and Night Watch with Charlie Rose. Over the years, John has opened for notable acts such as Kathleen Madigan, Michael Bolton, The Monkees, Ronnie Cole, Jerry Seinfeld, and Helen Reddy.
Known for his confident demeanor and honest approach to comedy, John dares to address real and often challenging issues, speaking from the heart about topics like children and relationships. Although some of his material can push boundaries, it remains respectful and inclusive, never derogating any race, sex, or creed.
In addition to his stand-up career, John also specializes in motivational speaking and couples counseling. In these engagements, he focuses less on humor and more on genuine emotional connection, helping audiences find meaning and foster positive changes in their attitudes.
Residing in Plaquemine, Louisiana, with his wife Lori, their two sons Jack and Jake, and their adopted daughter Lilah from Mainland China, John embraces the Louisiana lifestyle. The family lives on a restored 1903 Plantation called Homestead, which they have lovingly maintained. When not performing comedy across the country, John cherishes his time at home, enjoying the cultural traditions, cuisine, and lifestyle of his upbringing.
In 2004, John's comedic talents were recognized with an invitation to perform at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival, “Just for Laughs,” showcasing his well-honed craft to international audiences. Whether at home or on stage, John Morgan continues to delight and inspire, embodying the lively spirit of a true Ragin’ Cajun.
