The son of Afghan immigrants, Fahim Anwar carved a unique path from engineering to comedy. Born and raised in the United States, Anwar pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington, setting out on a traditional career path. Yet, comedy beckoned from the start. While in college, he began performing at open mics at Seattle's Comedy Underground when he was just 18, honing his craft and nurturing a dream of making people laugh for a living.
Upon graduation, Fahim moved to Long Beach, California, to join Boeing as an aerospace engineer, designing airplanes. However, engineering was merely a stepping stone toward his true passion. The proximity to Los Angeles offered him ample opportunity for stage time, allowing him to live a double life with nights dedicated to building a career in stand-up. Seeking the comedic limelight, he kept his dual pursuits a secret from colleagues until comedy gigs outnumbered engineering schedules.
After three and a half years, the balancing act came to an end as Anwar transitioned to stand-up comedy full time. In 2010, his career gained momentum when he was recognized as one of the "New Faces" at the prestigious Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival, and became a finalist in NBC’s Stand-Up for Diversity Showcase. His comedic talents caught the attention of television producers, leading to acting roles on popular shows like NBC's "Chuck" and MTV’s "Disaster Date."
Fahim Anwar's comic versatility soon landed him performances on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" and "Conan," along with appearances on Comedy Central's showcase special "Russell Simmons Presents: Stand Up From The El Rey Theatre." In 2017, he released his first hour-long special, "Fahim Anwar: There's No Business Like Show Business," which premiered on NBC's streaming network Seeso, cementing his reputation in the comedy circuit.
Today, Fahim Anwar is a regular at The Comedy Store and various Los Angeles comedy clubs, continually drawing from his diverse background and unique experiences to entertain audiences with insightful humor.
