With his booming voice and confident swagger, Deon Cole doesn’t seem like the type of performer to stumble upon a career in comedy, but that’s exactly what happened. Born and raised in Chicago, Cole began his stand-up career at the age of 21 when a friend wagered $50 that he wouldn't have the nerve to perform at a local open mic event. Rising to the challenge, Cole took to the stage, won the bet, and was instantly hooked on comedy.
Cole's journey into television comedy writing was equally serendipitous. In 2009, he performed a set on *The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Less than a month later, an unexpected phone call from Conan himself led to an invitation to join the show. Cole was hired on the spot and became a valued member of the Team Coco writing staff. During his tenure, he not only wrote for the show but also appeared in numerous sketches, earning two Primetime Emmy nominations for his work.
Beyond writing, Cole has made a name for himself as an actor. He has a recurring role on the spoof cop show *Angie Tribeca* and briefly hosted his own sketch comedy show, *Deon Cole’s Black Box,* on TBS in 2013. Cole continues to bring his sharp wit and unique perspective to audiences, captivating viewers with his effortless humor and undeniable charisma.
