Carrot Top
Scott Thompson, known professionally as Carrot Top, was born on February 25, 1965, in Big Bear City, California. His birth year has been a topic of some mystery, as he has humorously misrepresented it as 1967 and 1969 in different interviews. Thompson grew up in Florida, where his father, Larry, worked as a scientist for NASA. Pursuing higher education, he graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. During his college years, a suggestion to participate in a talent show led Thompson to try his hand at comedy. His early attempts were not as successful as he had hoped, prompting him to brainstorm ways to make his performances more engaging. Noticing amusing signs in his neighborhood, such as "Butts Road" and "Neighborhood Crime Watch," Thompson realized he could incorporate these visual gags into his act. His witty comments about these signs resonated with audiences, encouraging him to explore prop comedy further. Carrot Top's stage show became a hallmark of his comedic identity, featuring him in vibrant, multi-colored outfits and surrounded by several trunks filled with props. His act often involves presenting an initial item that cleverly transforms into a second, humorous object, sometimes tailored for particular celebrities or stereotypical groups. This rapid presentation style, showcasing a series of inventive prop combinations, allows him to maintain the audience's interest and humor. Venturing beyond stand-up comedy, Carrot Top starred in the 1998 film "Chairman of the Board," which unfortunately did not fare well with critics. However, this did not deter his career. In recent years, he has embraced bodybuilding, resulting in an impressive, muscular physique that, combined with his signature frizzy orange hair, has become part of his unique appearance. Today, Carrot Top is a prominent performer in Las Vegas, drawing large crowds to his shows at the Luxor Hotel and Casino, where he performs for 15 weeks annually. His popularity extends beyond Las Vegas, as he continues to tour extensively, often performing over 100 shows on the road each year.
