Brian Regan
Brian Regan, born Brian Joseph Regan on October 2, 1957, grew up in a bustling household as one of eight children in Miami, Florida. Hailing from a family where humor seemed to be part of the fabric, comedic talent was not scarce; his brother, Dennis Regan, contributed his wit as a writer for the sitcom "The King of Queens." Initially pursuing a different path, Brian attended Heidelberg College in Ohio, where he majored in accounting and played football. However, his life took a decisive turn when a perceptive football coach, recognizing Brian's creative inclinations, urged him to explore the world of theater. During his sophomore year, Brian stumbled upon stand-up comedy, a discovery that set him on a new trajectory. The allure of comedy was profound enough that by his senior year, he chose to leave college to pursue stand-up full time, a decision that would eventually pay off when he completed his degree in 1997. Brian's early days in comedy began in earnest in 1981, when he immersed himself in the vibrant world of stand-up in South Florida. He worked as a greeter and cook at the Comic Strip, where he honed his craft extensively, even experimenting with prop comedy in his early days. After two years of performing and refining his act, he felt prepared to start touring as a middle act. In 1986, Regan made the significant move to New York City. Just two years later, his relentless dedication was rewarded when he not only emerged as a headliner but also won the K-Rock/Miller Lite Funniest Person in New York Contest. Renowned for his clean comedic style, Brian Regan became highly respected among his peers. His material, while devoid of profanity, did not stem from a particular moral stance but rather from an emphasis on delivering sharp, engaging, and memorable laughs. Regan made a notable debut on national television with his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in 1995, a platform he would grace annually thereafter. The following year, in 1996, his comedic prowess was recognized with the American Comedy Award for Best Comedian. Building on this success, he released his first CD, "Brian Regan Live," in 1997. In 2000, Regan's talent was further celebrated with his first half-hour special on Comedy Central. Four years later, in 2004, he performed a live show at the Irvine Improv, capturing it in the DVD release "I Walked on the Moon." Despite not being a staple on television, Brian's ability to draw audiences helped transition his performances from comedy clubs to larger theaters. In 2007, Comedy Central backed Brian's comedic journey with a significant deal encompassing a live tour and two hour-long specials, further cementing his place in comedy. Currently, Brian Regan resides in Las Vegas, where he continues to delight audiences with his distinctive humor and timeless comedic appeal.
