Baron Vaughn always aspired to be a stand-up comedian, but like many young artists in the field, he found the path unclear. Believing that comedians were essentially improvising, he pursued an acting education at Boston University. This decision paved the way to Boston’s open mic scene and helped him achieve his ultimate goal of becoming a comedian. His formal acting training turned out to be incredibly beneficial, leading to an extended role on USA’s "Fairly Legal" and appearances in the comedies "Black Dynamite" and "The Other Guys."
Balancing a dual career as both a professional actor and comedian has only resulted in a few conflicts. One notable instance occurred in 2013. Just hours before he was set to film his first Half Hour special for Comedy Central, Vaughn found himself auditioning for a pilot season role in his Boston hotel room. Although he didn't secure the acting role, his Half Hour taping was a success, winning over the crowd with his characteristic poise and professionalism.
Vaughn takes pride in his ability to perform at festivals, which he humorously refers to himself as the “Master of Festivals.” His comedic talents have been showcased at festivals across the country, including those in Portland, San Francisco, Tennessee, Aspen, Austin, Montreal, Seattle, Palm Springs, Miami, and Cleveland, among others.
Netflix audiences know Vaughn as the voice of Tom Servo on "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return" and for his role as 'Bud' on the hit series "Grace & Frankie." He has released two comedy albums, "Raised by Cable" in 2011 and "Blaxistential Crisis” in 2016. Beyond the stage and screen, Vaughn has also engaged audiences through two comedy podcasts. "Deep S*** with Baron Vaughn," part of the All Things Comedy network, ran until 2014. He also co-hosted "Maltin on Movies" with renowned film critic Leonard Maltin.
Currently residing in Los Angeles, Baron Vaughn continues to thrive in both his comedic and acting endeavors, seamlessly blending the skills he developed at the start of his career.
